On August 19, the “First Forum on Integrated Development of non-ferrous and Ferrous Metals — Sub-forum on high quality Integrated Construction and Operation Technologies for Ferrous and non-ferrous Metals”, sponsored by China non-ferrous Metals Industry Association and China Minmetals and hosted by China MCC, was successfully held in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. Wang Jian, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of China non-ferrous Metals Industry Association, attended the event and delivered a speech. Chen Yang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of China MCC, addressed the gathering on behalf of the host. Zhu Guangxia, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of China MCC, presided over the forum. Xiao Peng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of China MCC, delivered a keynote speech. 

Wang Jian stated that integrated development of non-ferrous and ferrous metals represents an inevitable trend of the times. Spanning the full lifecycle from mine development and engineering construction to production and operation maintenance, construction and operation technologies constitute a critical entry point for the two industries to evolve from “physical connection” toward “chemical integration”. Integration of construction and operation technologies forms the core component of integrated development for non-ferrous and ferrous metals. Great potential exists for further deepening such integration. Multiple approaches including establishing regular technical exchange platforms, organizing cross industry joint research initiatives and promoting mutual recognition of standards should be adopted to advance substantive progress in integrating construction and operation technologies. 

Chen Yang remarked that as a founder of China’s ferrous metallurgical industry and a global pacesetter in metallurgical construction and operation services, China MCC has deeply participated in the engineering development of most large and medium-sized iron and steel bases nationwide and actively engaged in non-ferrous metallurgical project construction. It has built full industry chain strengths covering surveying, design, construction and operation maintenance, maintaining a leading global position in metallurgical engineering. Ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals share common origins, interconnected technologies and converging demands, jointly shaping the modern metallurgical industry system. China MCC aspires to be a pioneer in integrated ferrous and non-ferrous metals development, a key force driving low-carbon and intelligent industrial transformation, and a collaborative partner pursuing win-win full industry chain development. Together with all stakeholders, China MCC will advance high-end, intelligent and green development of the metallurgical industry. 

Zhu Guangxia indicated that China MCC will firmly act as the “main force” for integrated ferrous and non-ferrous metals development, strive to become a world class metal mining engineering construction service provider, and jointly build a new industrial ecosystem for integrated ferrous and non-ferrous metals growth. 

In his keynote speech, Xiao Peng systematically interpreted China MCC’s practical pathways and strategic vision for advancing “ferrous and non-ferrous metals integration”, and put forward six cooperation directions: system optimization, deep-earth and deep-sea exploration, ultimate energy efficiency, resource recycling, intelligence and green development. 

Thirteen experts were invited to deliver special reports covering relevant fields at the forum. More than 230 experts, scholars and representatives from government departments, industry associations, research institutes, institutions of higher learning and upstream and downstream industrial chain enterprises attended the forum.
