On August 6, the 2nd Innovation Achievement Promotion and Exchange Conference for Steel Structure Construction Industry Chain was held in Tangshan. Chen Yang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of China MCC, attended the conference and delivered an address. Xiao Peng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of China MCC, was also present. 

In his address, Chen Yang noted that China MCC is a major central state-owned enterprise player in the steel structure engineering sector. It hosts the National Research Center for Steel Structure Engineering Technology and eight National Prefabricated Building Industrial Bases. The Company has led the compilation of more than 30 national and industrial technical standards. It has ramped up R&D efforts focusing on steel structure-based “high quality housing”, urban renewal and low carbon buildings. China MCC has tackled core technologies including the third generation high efficiency prefabricated composite systems, near-zero carbon steel structure residential buildings, modular construction and intelligent welding equipment as well as construction industry internet solutions, and delivered multiple replicable demonstration projects. China MCC22 Group, a local subsidiary, is rooted in, deeply engaged in and committed to building Tangshan. It has recently undertaken the Tangshan National Building Technology Industrial Base project, continuously providing technical and engineering support for regional industrial upgrading. 

Chen Yang remarked that this exchange conference serves as a key initiative to implement national policies on prefabricated buildings, steel structure residences and green and low carbon urban-rural transition. It also creates a platform for communication and matchmaking across the full industrial chain covering iron and steel production, design, manufacturing, construction and digital services. He called on the whole industry to prioritize innovation as the core to consolidate industrial technological foundations; deepen cross chain collaboration to unblock channels for achievement translation; and target green and low carbon goals to expand application scenarios for steel structures. China MCC will fulfill its responsibilities as a central SOE, keep increasing investment in scientific and technological research, step up the promotion of sci-tech achievements, advance the in-depth integration of innovation and industrial chains, work with industry peers to address industrial bottlenecks, and join upstream and downstream partners to build large-scale application scenarios, jointly driving high quality development of the steel structure construction industry. 

Prior to the launch ceremony, Chen Yang toured exhibits of innovative products and achievements at the steel structure construction industry chain exhibition. 

Hosted by the China Iron and Steel Association, China MCC and the Strategic Alliance for Technological Innovation of Prefabricated steel structure Civil Building Industry, and organized by China MCC22 Group and Hebei Steel Structure Industry Association, this conference adopted the theme “Innovation-Driven, Integrated Development”. It drew nearly 500 participants from government bodies, industry associations, enterprises and media outlets. Relevant persons in charge of departments and subsidiaries under China MCC headquarters took part in the event.
