Guo Wenqing Leads A Delegation to visit Mitsui & Co., Ltd.

  On September 19, Guo Wenqing, General Manager of China Minmetals Corporation and Chairman of MCC, led a delegation to Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on further cooperation in scrap steel treatment, iron ore trade, steel processing, new energy material and other fields.

  Guo Wenqing expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and introduced the development of main business of China Minmetals. According to Guo Wenqing, China Minmetals is building a "four beams and eight columns" business system oriented to metal mining, metallurgical construction, trade logistics, financial real estate, while the business of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. Business involves many fields such as metals, energy, equipment and logistics, which means both sides are able to complement each other and have great potential for cooperation, so he suggested further exchanges for establishing a long-term strategic cooperation mechanism.

  Guo Wenqing pointed out that China Minmetals has a sound foundation for development and strong strength in four main fields that Mitsui & Co., Ltd. involves in: first, for scrap steel treatment, China is the largest producer and consumer, and China Minmetals has established a relatively mature business layout; second, for iron ore trade, the mineral ore trading center of 100 million-ton class in Caofeidian as a foothold, China Minmetals actively promotes business such as ore blending, warehousing, bonding, spot and futures delivery, and cooperates with large mining companies relying on advantages of high clusterization of large steel enterprises in Tangshan, to build a world-class ore trading center; third, for steel processing, China Minmetals has rich experience and great influence with more than 20 processing centers and a mature sales network; fourth, for new energy material, China Minmetals has obvious advantages in resources and cathode material production technology, and has a good reputation in the market, and at the same time, it intends high-tech and high value-added products such as motors and battery holders. [u1] China Minmetals and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. have broad cooperation space in fields above. The two sides may consider deepening cooperation by establishing joint ventures and other ways to jointly expand markets and enhance market competitiveness.

  Relevant persons in charge of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. warmly welcomed Guo Wenqing and his delegation, introduced business development of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., reviewed the history of friendly cooperation with China Minmetals for more than 30 years, and expressed their gratitude to China Minmetals for its long-term support to Mitsui & Co., Ltd. Jinno Yasunori, assistant manager of Mineral & Metal Resources in Mitsui & Co., Ltd. said that Mitsui & Co., Ltd. is very optimistic about China's scrap steel market and plans to build a number of scrap steel treatment and processing centers in China; at the same time, he pays great attention to China Minmetals's project of international mineral ore trading center in Caofeidian, and looks forward to cooperation in ore trade between the two sides. [u2] Hori Shinchi, head of Iron & Steel Products in Mitsui & Co., Ltd. mentioned that Mitsui & Co., Ltd. has established 13 steel processing centers in China, which have broad prospects for cooperation in automotive steel, electromagnetic steel sheet and other fields; 9 automotive parts processing factories and 2 R&D centers in China, so it has technical advantages in lightweight of automobile and high strength battery holders.

  The two sides have in-depth exchanges on cooperation modes in several specific areas, and specified the following matching departments and personnel. Liu Qingchun, Chairman of Minmetals Development, made a supplementary introduction to scrap steel treatment, steel processing, iron ore trade and so on.

  Jiao Jian, Deputy General Manager of China Minmetals, attended the meeting. Other people attended the meeting include: related personnel in Mitsui & Co., Ltd., including Hori Shinchi, Toshikazu Ezure, Jinno Yasunori, Shibuya Masano and Shikata Tsutomu; related personnel of relevant directly-administered enterprises of China Minmetals, including Liu Qingchun, Wang Tao, Hu Liuquan, Han Guorui, Xiao Xuewen, Xiang Mingwu, Yu Zhendong, and Zhang Kaifu.
